Grass.

A-Fu is a patch of rotten grass that survives by chewing on corpses.

The mass grave is his home, and going hungry is the norm.

Then one day, fortune smiled on him and a severely injured, handsome man fell from the sky.

A-Fu waited and waited, but the man simply refused to die.

A-Fu squatted beside him, waiting for him to breathe his last until his leaves wilted.

At last, he couldn't help poking the man's wound.

"Brother, give me a straight answer. Are you going to die or not?"

But the man didn't die, and his enemies came looking for him.

A-Fu secretly thought, as he contemplated eating the man,

This time, I'll finally get a proper meal.

Who would have guessed that the man, who had been on the verge of death a moment ago, would slaughter his enemies the next, as easily as chopping watermelons?

Only then did A-Fu see the token in the man's arms, a symbol of his identity:

Yanluo Hall Master, Zhong Ye.

At last, he realized what kind of deadly figure he'd gotten himself mixed up with.

Zhong Ye took A-Fu back to Yanluo Hall and planted him in a pot of Yin Jade, pampering him with the purest Yin energy.

At first, A-Fu was constantly on edge, but later he discovered that

this master, rumored to be cold and ruthless,

would gently stroke the tips of his grass blades when they curled,

and give him his own Yin energy when A-Fu was close to taking human form and his aura grew unstable.

Until that night, when the patch of rotten grass took human form.

Dark green hair cascaded down like a waterfall, skin gleamed translucent as snow, and his eyes shimmered with beauty.

Later, all three realms knew that the lover of the Yanluo Hall Master was a patch of rotten grass turned human.

He had peerless beauty, yet most loved squatting by the Bridge of Helplessness, resting his chin in his hands and staring at passing souls as he drooled.

Whenever that happened, Zhong Ye would appear helplessly and gently lead his little patch of rotten grass away.

"Today's ingredients are ready in the bedchamber."
