The Gold Digger's True Heart

Jiang Xianyu was the prettiest flower in Xiaohe Town.

Everyone said she was too beautiful for a place like this, and that one day she was sure to fly beyond these poor mountains.

She thought so too, and often told Jian Sen:

"I'm so pretty. Of course I'll marry a rich man someday. Jian Sen, if you start being nice to me now, maybe I'll take you with me to live the good life."

Jian Sen was a girl with a limp in her left leg. She was Jiang Xianyu's childhood sweetheart and child bride.

Jian Sen was honest and taciturn.

She loved Jiang Xianyu.

Jiang Xianyu's words broke her heart.

But there was nothing she could do. She was a poor cripple.

She worked herself to the bone hauling bricks to pay for Jiang Xianyu's schooling.

Later, a rich young lady came to impoverished Xiaohe Town.

Determined to marry into money, Jiang Xianyu climbed into the young lady's bed. At last, she left the poor little town behind.

Jian Sen ran after the car.

A taciturn girl with a limp, running and crying.

It was the first time Jiang Xianyu had ever seen Jian Sen cry, and suddenly she felt sad too. She shouted:

"Jian Sen, wait for me! I'll come back for you!"

Jiang Xianyu went with the young lady, who didn't treat her like a person, only a plaything.

Jiang Xianyu didn't care. All she needed was money.

Three years later, she had finally saved enough to support herself and Jian Sen for the rest of their lives.

She returned to Xiaohe Town.

She found Jian Sen.

Jian Sen must have just finished work. She sat on a pile of bricks, smoking.

"She doesn't want you anymore, so now you've come to find me, is that it?" Jian Sen exhaled a ring of smoke.

Behind the haze, Jian Sen's expression was impossible to read.

Jiang Xianyu suddenly felt heartbroken.

Her Jian Sen was no longer the Jian Sen she remembered.
