The Green Bamboo Slips

A poor scholar, armed with nothing but a heart full of lonely courage, wants only to trade ink and paper for peace throughout the land.

The age of chaos is coming. Granaries overflow like mountains, while the hungry dead litter the wilderness.

No one sees the two lines of writing on the page, so he has no choice but to draw his sword.

Its name is Qing Jian. It was meant to write poetry, yet now it cuts through bloody light.

The one who folds a willow branch outside his door is waiting. The martial world mocks him, no one recognizing him, while a powerful minister sneers from the palace hall.

Alone, sword in hand, he strides into the palace and defies the emperor, earning a single crow of the rooster and the first faint light of dawn for all beneath heaven.

This is the brutal legend of a scholar swordsman. His sword and his books are equally cold, and his ambition and his life are both short.
