Qi Yu is trapped in an impossible cycle:
Whenever Mo Fengzhi falls in love with her, his memories are "erased," as if they had never met.
Qi Yu thinks that if she can make Mo Fengzhi remember her forever, she can put an end to all this.
But when he finally does remember her, everyone in the world forgets her, from her pets and friends to her parents.
Being loved by him is wonderful.
But her parents and friends, and her connection to the world, matter too.
Qi Yu decides to erase the traces of herself from Mo Fengzhi's mind with her own hands.
Years later, Qi Yu attends Mo Fengzhi's solo art exhibition and sees a work titled Shadow. The blurry silhouette of a girl from behind makes her eyes grow hot.
A reporter presses Mo Fengzhi about the inspiration for Shadow.
After a moment of silence, a flicker of confusion passes through his eyes. "I used to dream about a figure like this all the time..."
Before he can finish, he puts an arm around the woman beside him and adds happily, "Later, I had my fiancée recreate the photo from my dream."
Everyone exclaims at how sweet it is. Qi Yu turns away, out of step with the crowd, and smiles through her watery eyes.
She thinks this ending is pretty good, too.
