Tales of the Primeval Wilderness: Transmigrated to Prehistoric Times, Reborn as an Ape-Man

Transmigration, prehistoric times, rebirth, ancient apes, wilderness survival, primitive civilization

Making fire with flint, forbidden fire, dire cats, saber-toothed tigers, stone and bone, Chinese supernatural folklore, shamans communing with spirits, ancestor worship

Vast wilderness, ancient songs played on bone flutes, judgments carved into animal bones, a style inspired by Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, suspense and horror, reality and illusion intertwined

A solitary protagonist, a dire cat cub, a young ape missing teeth, a red-haired shaman, a scar-faced old shaman, tribal taboos, a matriarchal council

Gu Nian, a food delivery rider who dies suddenly, opens his eyes as a southern ape who has just been cast out by his tribe.

Living off raw meat and blood is the norm, and saber-toothed tigers and dire cats are his neighbors. He carries the memories of a modern man, but even making a fire means risking his life: in this savage world, making fire with flint is taboo, an offense against the ancestors.

The red-haired shaman sees him as a mortal enemy, and the lord of the wilderness is after his secret. A young ape missing his front teeth and an abandoned dire cat cub are his only allies.

“Who says you have to wait to die in prehistoric times? I’ll kindle the first human fire in this land where fire is forbidden.”

Amid the ancient forests and swamps, fire taboos, shamans communing with spirits, and judgments carved into animal bones set the stage for a struggle to survive across a million years.
