I Exorcised Corpses and Guided Ghosts in 1911

In 1911, during the final years of the Qing Dynasty, society was in turmoil and the situation unstable. The country was half-feudal and half-colonial, people were confused and starving, and revolutions were breaking out everywhere. The heads of counterrevolutionaries hung from city walls across the land.

Whenever the world falls into chaos, demons and evil spirits rise. It had been decades since the Taiping Rebellion, and the resentment between Heaven and Earth had reached its peak. Once quantity turns into quality, it becomes a time when demons and monsters run rampant.

Across China, smoke rose from battlefields and warfires blazed without end. Local tyrants ruled the countryside, and ordinary people had barely enough clothing to cover themselves. Death was everywhere, from famine, disease, natural disasters, and war. For thousands of miles, the land was littered with bones.

Thus, resentment and malice filled the world. When human resentment does not fade, it nourishes demons and monsters.

This is a slow-burn story set in the world of Uncle Jiu. Mao Xiaofang and other characters appear. It is not a traditional tale of the supernatural and zombies, but an innovative blend of surrealism and semi-fiction. I write this for love, in tribute to my childhood idol, Lam Ching-ying.
