A Chinese Dreamcore Tale of the Strange: A Silent, Supernatural World of the Bizarre

Absolute silence. Every rule governing sound has been stripped away, making it impossible to produce or transmit any noise. Communication relies entirely on eye contact, body language, and fluctuations of the soul, visual streams of information like projected thoughts. Eerie, oppressive, dreamlike, absurd, mysterious, and utterly silent. Time and space are disorienting, and logic is scarce.

The dead come from every era and every kind of death. They take all kinds of forms: some retain human shape, some are twisted and mutated, some are spirits from folk legends such as zombies, fox demons, painted-skin demons, and water ghosts. Others are nameless shadows or conceptual entities. Lin Xuan, a con artist who fell to his death, plunges into an eerie world of absolute silence, where sound has been utterly stripped away, the dead dwell, and logic collapses. Eyes become the only language, zombies wander, and ancient souls drift in the gloom. Cunning and determined to survive, Lin Xuan encounters “Uncle Jiu,” a remnant soul in a Taoist robe, and navigates the fragile edge of order in this silent world of strange tales. He ventures into a ruined city that mirrors reality, struggling amid data-born vengeful nightmares and warped reflections, while his instincts for deception become a deadly weapon. In the illogical abyss of the Phantom Night City, where forms twist and time and space run amok, he is forced into a contest with a two-bodied red-and-black soul representing chaos and nothingness, shaking the rules with a staggering con. At last, he enters the primordial Great Void, where he faces the embodiment of the world's will, the “Hell Inspector,” and the revelation of the End-Soul. In this silent hell, Lin Xuan's art of deception becomes his final trump card against the void of existence, as he seeks redemption or a way to control the end. The uncanny dwell here, and silence is eternal.
