The Distance Where I Can Hear Your Heartbeat

Award-winning voice actor Gu Yansheng suddenly loses his hearing in an accident, falling from the heights of success into despair and becoming “a mute who can’t hear.” On the darkest night of his life, just as he’s about to quit the internet and give up, he “finds” an abandoned deaf boy named Lele outside a convenience store.

Lele can’t speak, but he loves tapping anything that makes a sound. His dream is to become a drummer.

To support this little money pit, and to find the rhythm he himself has lost, Gu Yansheng pulls himself together. He goes from temporary guardian to full-time dad, then adopts Lele from an orphanage and travels thousands of miles to find the boy’s family…

This is the story of two people the world has muted, drumming out the most deafening love in a noisy world.
