Beast King of Guandong: I Fed My Father-in-Law to a Bear

In the turmoil of the Republic of China, a severe drought strikes Shandong, and Zhao Tiezhu follows his father to Manchuria in search of a living. His father dies far from home, and Zhao is forced into the Yue family as a live-in son-in-law, where he endures endless abuse. His brother-in-law pushes him into Bear Burial Gully, and as he teeters on the brink of death, the Zhao family’s ancestral gift for speaking with beasts awakens. He can understand every animal and command the kings of the wild.

Riding a black bear and leading wolf packs as his troops, he returns from the mountains to settle accounts with every villain in the Yue family. From a lowly live-in son-in-law to the ruler of Manchuria, he builds castles, opens trade routes, fights Japanese invaders, and defends his homeland. Russia and Japan covet his territory, warlords lust after his wealth, and the Japanese put a bounty on his head.

But all he needs is a whistle, and the beasts come thundering.

The legendary rise of the beast-speaking son-in-law begins with a roar across the land of Manchuria.
