Big Sister-in-Law Transmigrates into a Book: The Siheyuan, 1959

Chen Shuting, the underworld's boss lady, dies in a car crash and opens her eyes to find herself as Lou Xiao'e, the wealthy heiress who has just married Xu Damao in Love in the Courtyard!

Facing a scheming husband and a courtyard full of “beasts” eyeing her greedily, she smirks and shows them how a boss lady does things:

Xu Damao hides a keepsake from his former girlfriend? By nightfall, the whole courtyard knows he's “impotent.”

Yi Zhonghai uses morality to pressure people into donating? She turns around and exposes the three jars of grain hoarded in his home.

Qin Huairu pretends to be an innocent flower while leeching off others? One move gets her son Banggeng to confess to stealing!

When famine strikes, she secretly builds a supply network, starting with two jin of ration coupons and turning the black market upside down;

When the storm of the times suddenly arrives, she cuts her losses to survive:

She donates her shops to secure places in a state-owned factory for the Lou family's skilled workers, and hides gold beneath Old Mrs. Deaf's kang bed.

Xu Damao reports her for “speculation and profiteering” to get promoted. On the day the Revolutionary Committee comes to her door, she tosses out the neighborhood production team's accounts: “This is called helping the people through hard times!”

Then she produces evidence of her husband's embezzlement and adultery, sending him to a labor camp for ten years!

On the night of her divorce, Silly Zhu kicks open the door of her shabby little home and brings her a bowl of hot noodle soup. “With me around, you won't go hungry.”

When the spring thunder of reform and opening-up rolls in, she buys back her properties, opens private factories, and builds a restaurant chain;

As the “beasts” of the past look on with envy amid the rubble of their demolished homes, she settles into a car and smiles. “I won the whole game in this courtyard.”

Meanwhile, the honest man in the passenger seat, wearing an apron, brings over a lunchbox. “Honey, try my newly invented Buddha Jumps Over the Wall!”
