The Phoenix Returns to Court: Reborn, I Dumped the Jerk and Became Empress

Bai Wanheng died in a dark dungeon, consumed by hatred. Only as her soul departed did she learn that Lu Yanming, whom she had loved blindly in her previous life, was a venomous snake disguised as a gentle soul. Together with Princess Anning and her cousin Bai Shuyao, he had destroyed her entire family. Reborn, she returns to the eve of her coming-of-age ceremony, the very turning point when she first “met” Lu Yanming. This time, she coldly turns away the hypocrite who pretends to fall into the water, and the flames of revenge blaze in her heart: the Dingbei Marquis household, the schemes of the imperial palace, she will make every traitor pay in blood!

She outwits her scheming cousin, toys with the deceitful scoundrel, and thwarts the princess's deadly plots. Bai Wanheng advances cautiously at every turn, but while dodging an unwanted pursuer, she stumbles into the arms of Ye Chen, the cold-faced God of War. This future Champion Marquis, who will topple the dynasty, unexpectedly becomes her powerful ally on the road to revenge. From the capital to the northern frontier, she helps Ye Chen win one great victory after another, while he sweeps away corrupt officials for her. Amid the clash of blades, their feelings quietly blossom. When Lu Yanming tries to bind her with a betrothal contract, Bai Wanheng presents the evidence in public and tears it up, ruining his reputation. Faced with the emperor's suspicions and the princess's frame-ups, she and Ye Chen are forced to raise an army. From fighting side by side to contending for the empire, she ultimately uses her wisdom to help Ye Chen ascend the throne, while she dons the phoenix crown and becomes the empress who rules the realm.

This is a battle for revenge by a woman returned from hell, and a legend of an emperor and empress united in rewriting the fate of a dynasty. With the wisdom she gained in rebirth, Bai Wanheng turns the game on its head and drives her enemies into one defeat after another. At last, she and Ye Chen stand together at the summit of a flourishing age, fulfilling the destined love of “a phoenix reborn must be matched with a dragon of the highest heavens.”
