Shanghai Spy Shadow: A Clash of Ciphers

In 1941, a silent war unfolds in the darkness of Japanese-occupied Shanghai. Chen Mo, the Military Statistics Bureau's ace agent known as “Night Owl,” is ordered to infiltrate the upper ranks of the Wang Jingwei puppet government and obtain intelligence that could determine the fate of both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. His cold precision strikes fear into the enemy, but no one knows that he bears the burden of a blood feud against his family.

At the same time, Lin Wei, an underground Communist agent known as “White Dove,” goes undercover among Shanghai's powerful elite as an elegant dance hostess. Her mission is to get close to a Japanese officer who holds a vital codebook. When Night Owl and White Dove unexpectedly meet during an operation, their fates become intertwined.

The ticking of the telegraph echoes through the darkness. Every decoded message could mean a choice between life and death. The arrival of Su Wan, a female Military Statistics Bureau agent, makes an already tangled web of spies even more baffling. Is she friend or foe? What secrets lie behind her smile?

As the Wannan Incident erupts and the attack on Pearl Harbor sends shockwaves through the world, the spy war in Shanghai reaches fever pitch. Night Owl and White Dove struggle between loyalty and love, revenge and redemption, while an even greater conspiracy begins to surface. When the final code is cracked, who could have guessed that the true “Night Owl and White Dove” would be…

In this city of lies and betrayal, everyone is a pawn, and every word is a code. Victory often belongs to the one who knows how to disguise themselves best.
