The Abandoned Kitchen: I Make Michelin Judges Beg for a Drink

Zhou Chen, a genius chef cast aside by the mainstream, uses an ancestral cooking method to simmer a secret soup that can awaken memories in an abandoned kitchen. Yet he never cooks for outsiders. The down-and-out director Su Yan sneaks into the ruins to track down the legendary “weeping soup” in a bid to redeem his conscience, only to unwittingly uncover the bloody truth behind Zhou Chen’s silence. As Michelin judges, food conglomerates, and former apprentices appear one after another, a single bowl of soup brings three crimes and their redemption to the surface. Su Yan’s camera is trained not on food, but on the fragments of human nature; what Zhou Chen cooks in his pot is not soup, but the warmth forgotten by the times.
