Operation Resolve: Keep Silent

Winter, 1949. Beijing. A gunshot splits the dawn, and the Kuomintang agent chief “Night Owl” crumples to the ground. The one who carries out the execution is Public Security agent Lin Mo. He appears to be a loyal revolutionary, but in truth he is a Kuomintang infiltrator codenamed “Jackdaw.” This public execution is his proof of loyalty to the organization, and the beginning of Operation Resolve.

Just when Lin Mo thinks the mission is over, a secret order pulls him into an even deeper whirlpool. The superior assigned to assist him is Shen Qingqiu, a codebreaking expert recently returned from the Soviet Union, a woman with far too many secrets in her eyes. She brings no reinforcements, but an astonishing revelation: the man executed was not the real “Night Owl,” and the execution itself was part of a much larger conspiracy.

As the investigation deepens, Lin Mo realizes that Operation Resolve is far more complicated than it seems. There is a mole within Public Security, a traitor on the Kuomintang side, and the legendary “Night Owl” may be hiding among the people he trusts most. What unsettles him even more is that Shen Qingqiu seems to know his true identity inside out, yet chooses to stay silent.

When faith clashes with faith and loyalty becomes a double-edged sword, Lin Mo must choose between his own conscience and the organization's orders. The incomplete codebook in Shen Qingqiu's hands may hold the key to changing everything, if she can stay alive long enough to decipher it. In this war without smoke, everyone is a pawn, and everyone is a player. Until the very end, no one knows what they are fighting for, or whom.
