Green Hills Veil the Bright Moon; I Won't Be a Willow Behind Palace Walls

Just because I called out Rong Xuanmu's name while he was in bed with me, he kicked me off the bed and stripped me of his favor overnight.

Back when we were inseparable, I had called him that hundreds of times, and all he ever did was smile and kiss me.

I wanted an explanation, so I dragged my ailing body to plead for an audience, but I was turned away every time.

Rong Xuanmu never cut back on my food or clothing, nor did he strip me of my title and make me a commoner. He simply refused to see me ever again.

I still held the title of Noble Consort Chen, yet I might as well have been living in the Cold Palace.

Just as I was about to give up all hope, he personally arranged a grand birthday banquet for me.

I thought it was a chance to break the ice, but throughout the banquet he remained silent, treating me as if I weren't there. After sitting for a while, he vanished without a trace.

I searched half the imperial city before returning to the palace in despair.

When I pushed open the door to my bedchamber, I heard delicate moans and gasps.

I stopped in silence and listened as he favored another woman on my bed, until the storm passed.

At that moment, I finally learned the true reason I had lost his favor.
