Dual Cultivation Within Oneself

I transmigrated into the body of a beggar and was picked up by the Hehuan Sect.

My master said, “The sect will assign you a partner for dual cultivation.”

I was full of anticipation, only to be handed a blank clone.

My master laughed. “You’re thinking too small. The Hehuan Sect is the top sect in the cultivation world thanks to our improved techniques. The person most compatible with you in the world is yourself. Split off your inner demon and inject it into the clone, then raise a female version of yourself. Dual cultivation becomes a perpetual motion machine, with maximum efficiency.”

But I don’t have an inner demon.

My master pointed at the clones in the warehouse. “Guess why they’re all men?”

The sect’s rule: cultivators who duel their inner demons will turn into girls if they lose.

It’s not that inner demons are born female. Whoever loses changes sex.

I stared at my clone, lost in thought.

Only later did I learn that this battle would change not only my gender, but the rules of the entire Heavenly Dao.
