Reborn in 1984: Hunting in the Xing'an Mountains

Liu Fusheng is reborn.

In his previous life, he was a renowned hunter who roamed the Xing'an Mountains for more than a decade, making his fortune trading furs. But an accident kept him from the woman he loved, and he never married. In the end, he died alone during a blizzard in a forest ranger's cabin.

When he opens his eyes, he's back in the early winter of 1984, in the snowy forest where he first took his childhood friend into the mountains to hunt wild boar. The instant the boar charges, forty-two years of hunting memories surge back. This time, he kills it with a single strike, saves his friend, and changes both their families' fates.

From then on, Liu Fusheng takes his childhood friend Li Jiaming and their two old hunting dogs into the mountains through the snow. From hunting squirrels and setting traps to hunting sable and fighting black bears, he puts the skills honed over two lifetimes to use and makes a thriving life for himself.

But more important than making money is protecting the people he lost in his previous life:

His mother, Guo Wenxiu, still whacks him with a fire poker, but it warms his heart even as it stings;

His childhood friend Jiaming grows from an immature boy who holds him back into a dependable partner;

And then there's Li Suxia, the woman he loved, who died in his previous life after being forced into an arranged marriage in his place. This time, he'll protect her with his life.

Blizzards, deep mountains, old forests, heated brick beds, stewed meat, and human warmth...

This is a story set in the Xing'an Mountains of Northeast China in 1984, about a mountain hunter given another chance at life.

In this life, he'll make sure both families live in warmth and happiness, with no one left behind.
