Back to 1983: Hunting in the Mountains to Support My Family

Chen Fan was reborn.

In his previous life, he made his way across the Xing'an Mountains for more than a decade, earning a fortune trading furs before losing everything because he let his temper get the better of him. In the end, destitute and down on his luck, he returned to the mountains to work as a forest ranger. During a blizzard on the Lantern Festival in 2026, he died weeping with a bottle of liquor in his arms.

When he opened his eyes, it was late autumn of 1983.

In the snowdrift, his childhood friend Ye Xiaotian's terrified screams, the barking of the white dog and the spotted dog, the wild boar with its tusks jutting out... Everything was exactly as he remembered it.

He knew what would happen next: Ye Xiaotian would be gravely injured, their families would grow estranged, and the girl named Ye Qingrou would be forced into a marriage swap and die in childbirth...

This time, inside a seventeen-year-old body were forty-three years of hunting experience and a heart full of regret.

One stroke to the throat, and the wild boar hit the ground. From that moment on, the wheels of fate began to turn in a new direction.

He took his childhood friend hunting in the mountains. They sold squirrel pelts, and the venison brought prosperity to both families. He bought cloth for his mother to make clothes, candy and pastries for his little brother, and a bottle of Friendship-brand Snowflake Cream for the girl he had missed in his previous life.

But things in the mountains never go smoothly all the time.

When Li Dahai came to borrow a dog for a hunt, Chen Fan turned the tables and asked to borrow his gun, sending him off in disgrace. When he discovered a sable trail on Jia Pi Mountain, he set traps and watched them for three days, and sure enough, caught a sable worth four or five hundred yuan. Then, while checking his traps in the mountains, he came across an old hunter from a neighboring village who had been mauled by a black bear, with half his scalp torn off...

The mountains were the same, and the snow was just as deep, but in this life, he would protect every person who mattered to him.

Especially the girl with the braided hair and red plaid shirt. This time, he would never let her go again.
