The Qing Concubine Who Loves Farming: Helping Cixi Make a Fortune

[Qing Dynasty setting + farming + everyday life + comedy + a husband’s long road to winning his wife back + besties with Cixi + saving the nation through industry]

A corporate drone and agricultural science student transmigrates into the Qing Dynasty, becoming the neglected secondary consort of an idle prince. Looking at the desolate rear courtyard, Jing Wan declares, “Trying to win his favor? Not a chance. Not in this lifetime. Farming is far more practical!”

So she clears land in the prince’s rear courtyard and plants tomatoes, potatoes, and napa cabbage. She raises chickens and ducks and builds greenhouses. By chance, she meets a noblewoman from the palace who loves to wander around, “Sister Lan” (Cixi). The two hit it off at once, roasting sweet potatoes, cracking sunflower seeds, complaining about lousy men, and, while they’re at it, setting up factories and building industry.

Then one day, the prince discovers that his supposedly countrified secondary consort is rich enough to rival a nation and has become a favorite guest of the Empress Dowager!

The prince, eyes red, begs her to take him back. “Wan’er, look at me...”

Jing Wan swings her hoe at him. “Move! You’re going to trample my hybrid rice!”

Empress Dowager Cixi sneers. “You think you deserve my best friend?”

A hilarious and heartwarming tale of everyday farming in a Qing Dynasty prince’s household. Watch a modern agricultural student quietly change the fate of the Qing Dynasty through farming and humor!
