Six Paths Society: The Dark Sky Throne

“With absolute power, commit the evil that must be done; in a body of darkness, defend a world of light.” These are the Six Paths Society's vows, and their curse.

Liu Dao Kai once thought becoming the emperor of the underworld was the end of the road. Then he realized that the people he protected were merely pieces on a much larger board.

Under the starry sky by Qinghai Lake, grilling lamb skewers, he pondered: If justice needs approval and evil needs evidence, who will seek justice for those who die before the paperwork is done?

The answer came soon enough: Tokyo became a land of demons, and one hundred and twenty million people screamed in agony. The United Nations was debating “procedural justice,” while his black-clad guards had their guns loaded.

“Boss, this sin...”

“I'll bear it.” He cut off the satellite connection and lit a cigarette. “Tell the kitchen to make it spicy. I hear the food in hell isn't very good.”

This is an epic about “necessary evil.”

When an organization presses the nuclear button before a nation does, when a man slaughters one hundred million people to save eight billion, how should history write about him?

Perhaps the answer lies by Qinghai Lake, at that lamb skewer stall where the meat never quite finishes cooking.
