The Last Letter Reveals the Killer

Chen Nian, a college student numbed by city life, returns to the hometown that holds all her youthful memories after her grandfather suddenly dies. But what he leaves behind is not a will. It is a bloodstained “final letter”! There is no division of property in it, only repeated accusations that the people of the town have “all lied together,” along with a veiled warning about the breakdown of her friendship with Zhou Ziang years ago. The letter tears apart Chen Nian’s idealized image of her hometown like a thunderclap. The misunderstanding from back then turns out to have been part of a massive lie woven by the townspeople to conceal an “unspeakable secret”! Now a firefighter, Zhou Ziang faces her questions at the scene of a fire, his eyes filled with pain and conflict, as if he is both a victim of this lie and its keeper. Teacher Lin’s arrival seems to hold the key to unraveling everything, but he is deeply entangled in it too. Can Chen Nian use her grandfather’s final letter to expose the town’s collective lie, reconcile with Zhou Ziang, who was hurt by it, and ultimately make peace with the self who was deceived? And when the truth comes to light, what will become of the town?
