A Heart of Red in White, Forging a Faith

In 1937, war engulfed the land and Shanghai fell. Lin Wanqiu, a nurse at a church hospital, had only hoped to find a measure of peace amid the chaos. Instead, through the smoke and shellfire, she witnessed devastation and suffering everywhere. Then Chen Jingming, a gravely wounded underground Party member, was secretly brought to her ward. Like a faint ray of light, he illuminated her numb heart. As they secretly tended to his wounds and grew close, love quietly took root between them amid blood and fire. But when Chen Jingming’s identity was exposed, Lin Wanqiu was plunged into a living hell. Forced into dangerous intelligence work, she escaped death by a hair’s breadth time and again. From her initial fear and trembling to her unwavering resolve, Lin Wanqiu gradually understood that true “peace” did not mean merely surviving. It had to be defended at the cost of life and faith! When Japanese forces surrounded the intelligence station, Lin Wanqiu faced a choice between life and death: protect the seriously wounded, or deliver the top-secret intelligence that would decide the nation’s fate? Chen Jingming paved her way with his life, forging her determination to “protect the people with her life.” When the smoke of battle cleared, Lin Wanqiu took up the torch of faith her beloved had left unfinished. She transformed from a timid nurse into a “ray of light” working undercover in enemy territory, continuing to carry intelligence for the underground Party and becoming a beacon of hope that would never go out in a world torn apart by war!
