Secluded in the Qinling Mountains: I Return Home and Build a Peach Blossom Paradise by Hand

[Master Craftsmen of a Great Nation + Intangible Cultural Heritage + Rural Life + Healing + Harmony with Nature]

After returning from the big city to his hometown deep in the Qinling Mountains, young craftsman Chen An only wants to enjoy a slow-paced life of farming, carving wood, and drinking rustic tea.

In this remote mountain village, where even modern delivery services can barely reach, he picks up the carving knife his grandfather left behind.

He hand-carves wooden horses adorned with seasonal symbols, builds traditional Luban-style houses that keep out wind and rain without a single metal nail, rediscovers long-lost pottery techniques by searching for clay and firing it on the back mountain, and creates stunning shades of Eastern color with natural plant dyes.

A home for two, three meals a day, four seasons together, and a loyal big yellow dog to guard the house and yard.

As one ancient craft after another regains its brilliance in Yunying Village, the once-backward mountain village gradually becomes a peaceful haven, rich in the warmth of everyday life and cultural heritage, in the eyes of outsiders.

There is no clamor or restlessness here. Only the sound of chisels, the calls of birds, and the warmth of handmade crafts passed down through generations, a warmth that belongs to the people of China.
