You Sent Me to Die in a Political Marriage, but I Tamed the Tyrant

Xie Wang, regent of the Great Yong Dynasty, holds the power of life and death and is a fearsome figure whom everyone dreads. He suffers from a terminal illness. When it strikes, his head throbs with unbearable pain, and only blood can give him a moment’s relief. Then the enemy kingdom sends him Shen Chuyi, a princess offered in marriage. The entire court wagers on how many hours this delicate little doll, who gets out of breath after just a few steps, will survive in Xie Wang’s hands. On the night they first meet, Shen Chuyi is so frightened that her hands shake, and she spills an entire cup of scalding hot tea over Xie Wang’s python-embroidered robe, a symbol of his power. Just as the guards draw their swords, ready to drag this foolish woman away and feed her to the dogs, Xie Wang catches a whiff of a sweet, delicate scent in the strong aroma of tea, and his headache vanishes instantly. The brutal demon withdraws the hand that was about to kill her. Instead, he draws the trembling beauty into his arms and buries his face in the crook of her neck, breathing in greedily. “Don’t move. My head doesn’t hurt anymore.” From then on, the regent’s mansion has a new little tyrant: whenever she cries, the powerful regent has to kneel and coax her. “Your Highness, the princess says the paper for drawing military reports isn’t good enough.” “Give her my immunity token to prop up her table.” “Your Highness, the enemy kingdom wants to trade the princess for your military forces.” That day, Xie Wang laid down his sword and knelt before the entire army, all to get his medicine, his life, back.
