Don’t Call Me Brother-in-Law

Jiang Wanning had a sister everyone envied.

Her sister was beautiful and accomplished, and she had even married Shen Yanci, the golden boy of the capital’s elite.

But on her wedding day, her sister ran away.

Afraid of offending the Shen family, the Jiangs forced Jiang Wanning into a wedding dress to take her sister’s place and go through with the ceremony.

She thought it was just a formality, and that she could explain everything once her sister came back.

But at the wedding, Shen Yanci took her hand and said calmly, “I know exactly who my bride is.”

After they married, she timidly called him her brother-in-law.

But he corrected her again and again: “Don’t call me that.”

She wanted a divorce, but Shen Yanci locked the divorce papers in a drawer.

“Your sister ran away. She gave up her place as Mrs. Shen.”

“The woman sitting beside me now is you.”

Only then did Jiang Wanning realize that her sister’s runaway bride act had not been an accident.

Perhaps this marriage by substitution was exactly what Shen Yanci had wanted from the start.
