The Agent Who's Always Pretending to Be Weak

My name is Chen Aomu, and my English name is Orm. On the surface, I’m Lingling Kuang’s perpetually stone-faced rookie agent. In reality, I’m addicted to pretending to be weak. Put on a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and soften my voice, and the whole company assumes I have connections.

Then a lighting rig came crashing down on set. I stopped it with my bare hands and met Lingling’s curious gaze. I was done for. My secret identity was about to be exposed. She narrowed her eyes at me. “Self-defense?”

I lowered my head and twisted my fingers. “…It was an elective in college.”

She didn’t call me out, but she made me stay by her side. At a business dinner, I “accidentally” spilled red wine on an investor. Late one night, she found encrypted design sketches on my computer. There was no hiding it from those light-brown eyes anymore.

After five years of secretly loving her, I went from being the CEO of Keep Silent to the shadow at her side. Later, after she won Best Actress, she grabbed hold of me at the height of her career. “Orm, take a year off from acting and start a new brand with me?”

I stared at her. “What kind of brand?”

She smiled. “Always Wonder. I’ll be the CEO, and you can keep designing. But this time, no more pretending.”

Beneath the fireworks, she dropped to one knee, a ring engraved with the sun and moon in her hand. “Let’s spend the rest of our lives driving each other crazy. Will you marry me?”

I took off the glasses I’d worn for five years. “You already knew. I could never say no.”
