My Mind-Reading Only Works on Furry Creatures

Lin Xi had always thought that, as a psychological counselor, her strength lay in listening to people's secrets. That changed when she took on a bizarre murder case at the police station and discovered that she could understand the barks and whimpers of the sole “witness,” Laobai, a retired police dog. In the shadows of the city, animals that have secretly become spirits have built a hidden world unknown to humans, and Lin Xi is forced to become the “interpreter” between the two worlds. Along with her stubborn veteran detective mentor and Laobai, a sharp-tongued but loyal dog, she forms a special investigations unit. Together, they crack one baffling “nonhuman” case after another, only to gradually uncover a vast conspiracy to control all the supernatural creatures in the city. When her most trusted companions are caught in mortal danger, Lin Xi must use her unique gift for “beast speech” to lead her furry allies and win a silent war for the city.
