Meeting You Was the Luckiest Sign: A Record of Two Powerhouses in an Alternate Republic of China

Gu Nanzhi, an investment banking intern, accidentally transmigrates into a book, the Republican-era novel South Wind Knows My Heart, and becomes its lovesick heroine. The moment she opens her eyes, she finds herself in a deadly scene involving poisoned wine. With a finance professional’s knack for numbers and expertise, she identifies the cyanide-laced drink and saves Lin Yu, a character whose fate readers had long lamented. But her actions draw the attention of the mastermind known as “Mo” and the male lead, Shen Shiyan.

Determined to rewrite the story’s shattered plot, she sets clear goals: enroll at Jinling Women’s University, fulfill her dream of studying abroad, and fix the key points where the story went wrong. Along the way, she uses a bond valuation model to resolve a crisis and wins a cotton yarn short-selling battle with a futures-spot hedging strategy. She also grows close to Shen Shiyan, a young marshal who cannot recognize faces, through their financial rivalry, and the two gradually fall for each other.

As “Mo” repeatedly frames her and political enemies plot against them, Gu Nanzhi joins forces with Shen Shiyan, Lin Yu, and a circle of friends. Using the secret of the 0.618% fluctuation in the world line, they launch a public campaign to monitor the writing, gradually breaking the shackles of fate’s control. From a last-minute switch at the execution grounds to a bank run, from a father and daughter reconciling to an international rescue, they wield finance as a blade and conviction as a shield. They not only correct the tragedies in the book but also uphold their ideal of “saving the nation through finance” amid the turmoil.

When the one who transmigrated into a book becomes the author of a new world, meeting is the best of fortunes, and staying together is the most perfect continuation.
