The White Camellia on Your Cloak: Brother, the Future Remembers You

Shen Qingqing, a history streamer from the twenty-sixth century, accidentally transmigrates to an alternate Republican-era China and becomes the younger sister of Shen Zhi, the warlord she has spent three years denouncing as a “traitor.” When they first meet, consumed by prejudice and hatred, she vows to livestream his “crimes.” But as they spend day after day together, she discovers the burning heart hidden beneath his hard exterior: he sells off his family’s ancestral property to provide relief for disaster victims, draws his own blood to make medicine for children, puts the people’s safety first when setting an ambush in Leihuo Lane, and even on the brink of death secretly writes behind a city defense map, “Until my people return, my soul will not return.”

From the smoke of Leihuo Lane to moldy grain in the granaries, from white camellia embroidery in a study late at night to an adjutant who painfully loses his child defending the city, Shen Qingqing watches helplessly, with the Historical Witness System in hand, as the “rebel general” of the history books becomes the loneliest guardian in a time of turmoil. When Shen Zhi gives his life for the city, she takes up his cause, assumes a false name, and crosses the ocean. She carries on his legacy of “protection” by cultivating rice seeds, and spends half her life clearing his name.

White camellias bloom in the wind and snow, just like Shen Zhi’s unspoken resolve. The livestream camera spanning time and space finally turns the truth buried beneath the years into a sorrowful yet tender echo. Some heroes are not found in the glory of history books, but in the people’s praise and in the legacy that never dies in those who come after them.
