Rose Murder Plot: The Wild Dog Boss Turns Republican-Era Shanghai Upside Down for Her

Set in an alternate version of the twenty-sixth year of the Republic of China, Shanghai is awash in neon and blood. Gu Lanyue, the headliner at the Paramount Ballroom, appears to be a socialite lost in a life of wine and pleasure. In secret, she is the Red Party’s ace agent, “Rose,” carrying bombs in her chest and intelligence in her hands. She turns her beauty into a blade and carves a blood-red path through the glittering city.

A transmigrator who has entered the book throws a wrench in the works, and Gu Lanyue mistakenly saves Xiao Ye, a future bandit chieftain. Once a fallen young master whose family was destroyed, he will become the wildest hound on the anti-Japanese battlefield. Together, they blow the Japanese army’s “Amaterasu” armored train into a sea of flames, sink the “Autumn Sacrifice” bioweapon into the Yellow River, and turn the 30,000 silver-dollar bounty into Shanghai’s biggest joke.

From the Paramount Ballroom to the Longhai Railway, from the old course of the Yellow River to the Lunan base, they wield flowers as blades and blood as fire, planting stars beneath gun barrels and roses in the ruins. When the final tango plays, Rose and the wild hound at last plant their flowers in a place without war. The lifetime they owe each other is only just beginning.
