The Whole Underworld Is Working for Me, and We’re All Caught in the Grind

Xie Bi'an, an exemplary employee of the Underworld, wins a vacation in ancient times as a transmigration prize. He plans to lie flat as a low-ranking eunuch, but is forced to take on the ultimate disaster: helping a resentful, dying prince confined to the Cold Palace fight for the throne. With his KPIs on the line and his vacation turning into overtime, he sends a video call straight to Underworld headquarters: “Boss, I’ve drawn up a plan. Approve the resources ASAP!”

The Underworld mobilizes in full force. Ox-Head and Horse-Face monitor the enemy around the clock, the Judge’s brush drafts the opponents’ list of crimes in advance, an improved version of Meng Po’s soup becomes the perfect tool for winning defectors over, and the Ten Kings of Hell hold online meetings to offer strategic guidance. Xie Bi'an keeps a low profile and plays the coward in the mortal world, while frantically coordinating operations behind the scenes.

At last, he places the imperial seal in the hands of that lonely prince. Faced with the court officials’ horrified stares and the faint projections of ghostly officials in the sky, he spreads his hands helplessly. “I told you, I have connections above me… gods, and lots of them.”
