After Leaving the Army, I Devote Myself to Developing Industry in the Siheyuan

Chen Chang’an, a 45-year-old veteran from Blue Star, transmigrates into the world of Love in the Courtyard. When he wakes up with his memories fused, he finds himself on the battlefield of the founding war, and bound to a Proficiency System. So Chen Ping’an grabs his gear and gets to work. The System records all kinds of skills, including marksmanship, artillery, driving cars, tanks and planes, English, French, German, Russian, and mechanical repairs. They level up rapidly, turning him into a god of war on the battlefield as he slaughters the enemy. He snipes 200 senior officers in the Eagle Sauce coalition, shells an Eagle Sauce airfield, and earns countless first-, second-, and third-class merits. Chen Ping’an stores a vast amount of supplies in the System’s space, including food seized from the U.S. military, technical documents, machinery and equipment from various South Korean factories, trucks, crude oil, and all kinds of Eagle Sauce weapons. By the end of the war, Chen Chang’an has become a regimental commander. In 1958, he still decides to switch careers, taking a post as head of the technical department at the Red Star Steelworks, where he oversees process improvements and technical research and development. When Chen Ping’an returns to the courtyard, he discovers that Yi Zhonghai has taken it upon himself to lend his home to Jia Dongxu, Yan Bugui, and Liu Haizhong. Chen Ping’an promptly throws them out and demands 100 yuan in compensation from Yi Zhonghai, threatening to call the police if he refuses. No matter how Yi Zhonghai tries to lecture him about reason and morality, Chen Ping’an ignores him. And so Chen Ping’an settles into a leisurely life, trading barbs with the courtyard’s assorted miscreants while developing the Red Star Arsenal’s technology.
