The Evolutionary Path to Defying Fate

In the year 2350, humanity huddles inside enormous domed cities to escape the mutated giant beasts roaming the wasteland. Society is rigidly divided by genetic rank. Jiang Chen, a scavenger living in District 13, the lowest tier, struggles from day to day to earn money for his younger sister's treatment for a genetic disease. During a dangerous scavenging expedition, his teammates betray him. At death's door, he accidentally fuses with a mysterious nanocore inside a relic of a supercivilization. The core grants him the ability to see, analyze, and endlessly upgrade genetic sequences. Starting by repairing his own shattered body, Jiang Chen embarks on a path of evolution that defies fate. He will challenge the entrenched social hierarchy, uncover the secrets behind the Great Cataclysm, and fight immense threats from both humans and nonhumans. He will rise from the dust, not just to survive, but to take control of his own destiny.
