The Empress of Xiliang’s Master Plan to Feed the World

In the late Eastern Han dynasty, Jiang Hua, daughter of a grain merchant in Jincheng Commandery, is caught in a rift in time and space after a heavenly fire descends. She uses The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art to calculate her way through the chaos, applies modern technology to improve highland barley cultivation, and establishes a “neutral granary” at the border between the Qiang and Han peoples, one that makes the warlords tremble. As Li Jue’s prophetic dreams intertwine with her flashes of historical memory, and Yuan Shao’s offers of alliance collide with Dong Zhuo’s plans to move the capital, this woman whose name was erased from the history books wields grain as a weapon and writes her own legend as an empress amid the Three Kingdoms’ upheaval. And it all begins with the yellowed copy of the 2023 Gazetteer of Jincheng Commandery she brought through the rift in time and space.
