Echoes from the Abyss of Anti-Corruption

In 2023, discipline inspection officer Chen Jin returns to his hometown of Binhai City with a transfer order. On his very first day at work, he receives an anonymous report directly accusing Yuansheng Group of illegally expanding its chemical industrial park. At the same time, his university classmate, environmental volunteer Li Zhe, is left gravely injured and comatose in an "accident" while investigating pollution from the park. The police call it an ordinary traffic accident, but the many suspicious details at the scene put Chen Jin on alert. On the surface, the coastal city boasts impressive economic growth. In reality, it is tightly ensnared in a web of political and commercial corruption woven by Yuansheng chairman Gao Mingyuan: from falsified approvals and concealed pollution to the co-opting of officials and violent threats, darkness is layered upon darkness. Together with his passionate assistant Lin Xiao, Chen Jin faces a desperate situation of missing witnesses, threatened family members, and pressure from within. Armed with a buried record of bribery and a restored video containing crucial evidence, he joins forces with his superiors to tear through the walls of vested interests. When the corruption ring finally collapses, Chen Jin is reassigned to an idle post, but he hears Binhai City awakening from the abyss, echoing with the promise of justice and new life.
