Summer Swept Through the Gardenia Grove

Summer Winds Sweep Through the Gardenia Garden This is an epic coming-of-age story spanning high school and college. It follows the first meeting of Su Wan, a shy transfer student, and Lu Xingchen, a sunny top student, among the gardenias at Xingyu High School, where a youthful journey of friendship, love, and dreams begins. Over their three years of high school, they face the choice between science and humanities tracks, the troubles caused by campus rumors, and a scandal involving altered exam papers. They cheer each other on at sports meets, bring warmth to one another through winter, and hold fast to their shared promise under the pressure of senior year: to get into Jing University. Lin Weiwei’s enthusiasm and Chen Mo’s calm become the strongest support for them all. Amid the scent of gardenias, the four friends etch precious memories of striving side by side. At Jing University, they support each other through military training and spend their days together on campus. From candlelight on Christmas Eve to the glory of the literary competition, they each shine in their own fields of study while staying true to their promises to one another. Even when tested by six months apart across borders, longing becomes the drive that helps them grow together. Su Wan earns a place in Jing University’s graduate program, while Lu Xingchen pursues a direct PhD, and their love grows ever stronger, tempered by time. From the shy, uncertain feelings of youth to a solemn promise to spend their lives together, from cicadas singing at Xingyu High School to the evening breeze by Weiming Lake, this six-year coming-of-age story is as sweet and pure as the scent of gardenias. It follows young people who stay true to themselves as they grow and help each other become their best selves through love, until their youthful promise blossoms into an everlasting light.
