Chasing Shadows in the Abyss

Chasing Shadows in the Abyss

Criminal police officer Xu Yang assumes the identity of “Shen Hao” and infiltrates the notorious criminal syndicate Dark River. His top-secret mission is to destroy its smuggling and drug-trafficking empire. In a life undercover, full of danger at every turn, he must contend not only with ruthless power struggles within the syndicate, from Brother Dao’s sinister frame-ups to Brother Hu’s frenzied revenge, but also with undercover moles embedded in law enforcement. Every step is treacherous.

Li Yuhan, the adopted daughter of syndicate leader Wei Kun, is the most unexpected variable in Xu Yang’s undercover operation. She is a cold, decisive woman with real power. On the surface, she is Wei Kun’s trusted right hand, but behind the scenes she is moving the syndicate’s funds, apparently hiding a deadly secret that Wei Kun holds over her. From their initial wariness and head-on clashes to facing mortal danger side by side several times, a complicated trust and attachment begin to grow between them in the darkness. Xu Yang must remain true to his duty as a police officer and gather crucial evidence against Dark River, yet Li Yuhan’s struggles and hidden pain tug at him, leaving him torn between justice and his humanity.

When the mole is exposed, the truth about his loved ones being held captive comes to light, and Dark River’s ultimate scheme begins to emerge, Xu Yang must walk a razor’s edge to keep his identity from being exposed. He joins forces with the police, and he and Li Yuhan must make their final choice. This is a desperate battle between justice and darkness, and the story of someone who clings to the light and seeks the truth in the abyss. Every confrontation is a matter of life and death, and every bond of trust conceals its own thorns, until evil is torn out by the roots and light shines through to the far end of Dark River.
