Bone Echoes from the Other Shore

Nishi, a guardian spirit of the Soul Realm, and Hu Zhi, bound by his obsession with his daughter He, first met through the flowers of the other shore in ancient times and became entangled in a cycle of reincarnation spanning a thousand years. Together, they faced vine corpses in a tomb dating back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, dismantled soul-devouring lanterns in Tang-dynasty Chang'an, subdued soul-devouring waters at West Lake during the Song, drove back the lantern keepers in the Yuan ghost market, and searched for He’s soul in the Ming imperial palace. At last, aboard a pleasure boat at the end of the Ming dynasty, they brought He’s soul back to the Soul Realm.

For three thousand years, they fought the lantern keepers who coveted the “Other Shore Heart.” Their obsession changed from “saving He” to “protecting each other.” In the end, the flowers of the other shore in the Soul Realm shed their malevolence, and the three stayed together, giving lost souls a place to rest and ending the thousand-year calamity of the other shore.
