What struck me most about this book was the texture of two-way secret love + time settling. The chance encounter in the library during high school, sharing chocolates, lecturing, holding an umbrella in the rain, and singing "Simple Love" are all young and clean details; when they reunited as adults, they did not forcefully sprinkle sugar, but used work intersections, testing eyes, and short conversations to advance slowly, and the missed, regret, and inability to let go were written with restraint. Ji Qiuyi's tenacity and Cheng Yang's coldness on the outside and hotness on the inside all stand up, without being suspended or awkward. It's like watching a youth and reunion that really happened, but it's just too little.

The rhythm of the story is comfortable, including the careful secret love, sharing sugar, talking about topics, and walking in the rain in high school, as well as the restrained but unable to hide care in adulthood. The emotions are layered, and it is very poignant even without forcing the candy.

It's really, really, really good to watch. In the first half, the girl chases the guy, and in the second half, the guy chases the girl. There are no bloody misunderstandings, only the temptation and care of adults. The details are delicate and the emotions are real. The more you watch it, the more you feel more involved.
