The Last Shard of Memory

In 2077, in Xinhai City, memories are no longer private property. They can be extracted, edited, and traded. Gu Chuan makes a living as a “memory organizer,” sorting through and deleting other people’s painful memories. He spends his days slacking off, complaining, and counting his money. His motto is: no matter how fascinating someone else’s memories are, nothing beats a nap of my own.

Then a seemingly simple request to “delete an embarrassing memory” drags him into a bottomless whirlpool. Deep within his client’s memories, he discovers a “ghost fragment” that belongs to no one: an image of a mysterious woman and an encrypted message pointing to the tech giant Yongyi Technologies.

Overnight, he goes from an ordinary guy who just wants to make a little money to the city’s most wanted fugitive. Deadly electronic ghosts hunt him through the network, while unidentified assassins close in on him in the real world. To protect himself and unravel the mystery surrounding him, Gu Chuan has no choice but to team up with the least reliable allies imaginable: an underground information broker with social anxiety, and an AI conspiracy theorist convinced that “lizard people” rule the world.

As he ventures deeper into the sea of memories, he discovers that the conspiracy is far bigger and more terrifying than he imagined. It is not just one person’s memories that have been altered, but the “truth” of the entire world. And the past he himself has forgotten may be the key to solving every mystery.
