The Ace Screenwriter and the End of the Universe

Lin Jue is a third-rate screenwriter who makes a living churning out tearjerking “poisonous chicken soup” short-video scripts. His life's work is knowing exactly how to manufacture and sell fake emotions. After years of monotonous assembly-line work, he's used up every genuine feeling he ever had and become an emotional “insulator.”

He thought his life was just a half-written script destined to end badly, until an unprecedented “joy leak” broke out in his office building. Everyone in the company laughed like lunatics with their funny bones tickled, while he felt as if he were watching an unbelievably terrible comedy.

The next second, two mysterious people in cheap suits kicked open the door, carrying a “Grief Collector” and “Bureaucratic Red Tape.” They “invited” him away on charges of “illegally resisting the cosmic emotional balance.”

From then on, Lin Jue was forced to join the universe's most mysterious, absurd, and “inhumane” agency: the Bureau of Emotional Management.

When an expert in peddling fake feelings encounters a cosmic crisis that requires handling real emotions, he discovers that his screenwriting tricks, “make people cry in three minutes and laugh in five,” have become the key to saving the world.

“Wait, you're saying that the ‘Ultimate Grief’ capable of devouring an entire galaxy needs me to balance it out with a sufficiently moving story?”

“That's right, Mr. Lin. The budget is limited, so please finish the script within thirty minutes. Thank you for your cooperation.”

“Could I file a workers' compensation claim first? My heart seems to be starting to hurt.”

This is an absurd comedy about a laid-back screenwriter forced to save the world in the universe's “neighborhood committee,” while also rediscovering his own joys and sorrows.
