Emotion Inspector

In the 23rd century megacity of New Babylon, emotions have become commodities with fixed price tags. You can buy happiness, sell sorrow, and subscribe to love as a luxury service.

Lin Mo is the top “emotional mediator” at Mind Matrix Corporation. His daily work involves handling emotional bad debts, repossessing expired happiness, and updating the “firmware” in other people’s marriages. Cynical and calculating, he believes every emotion can be quantified, until he encounters a counterfeit happiness chip.

The dull, flavorless chip invades his orderly life like a virus. Behind it lies an “emotional entropy” crisis sweeping the city, a terrifying secret the company has kept under wraps, and a ghost known as “Code 6377.”

For the sake of his own survival, and a spark of curiosity he thought had long since gone out, Lin Mo is forced onto a desperate path of defying the entire world. His only weapon is a heart the System has already diagnosed as “emotionally dysfunctional.”

In a city built on counterfeit feelings, can he find one last moment of genuine happiness?
