We'll Inherit Our Parents' Childhood Sweethearts

In the Great Yao dynasty, Xiao Xiao, heir to the title of guardian general, and Su Yuning, daughter of the prime minister, grew up together and secretly pledged themselves to each other. But the emperor's suspicions led to a false accusation: the entire Xiao family was executed, and the Su family was exiled thousands of miles away. Amid the intrigues of the imperial palace, the two were forced into separate marriages and sent to opposite ends of the realm.

Fifteen years later, their children, Xiao Chengyuan and Zhao Qingyan, meet in Jiangnan. From the tokens they carry, they recognize each other's identities at their very first meeting. Their similar circumstances draw the young pair together. They work in perfect harmony to investigate a salt-smuggling case and join forces to thwart a coup amid turmoil at court.

In the end, the new emperor grants them permission to marry. Their union breaks the decades-long curse binding their two families and allows the love story left unfinished by the previous generation to continue through their children. At the grand wedding, the four parents watch the newlyweds and finally smile in relief.
