Undercover: Alone in the Light

"Undercover: Alone in the Light" tells the story of Yu Zecheng on the eve of Tianjin's liberation. Traveling from place to place with Wu Jingzhong, he goes undercover, beginning in Shanghai. There, he navigates the competing factions, obtains the city's defense plans and a list of undercover agents, and uses infighting within their ranks to pass on intelligence, clearing the way for the People's Liberation Army to liberate Shanghai.

He then heads to Chongqing and infiltrates the heart of the Bureau of Investigation and Statistics. He obtains a list of Chongqing's progressive figures marked for execution, along with intelligence about a plot to unleash biological weapons on the city. Amid the dangers of the White Terror, he deftly resolves a crisis that threatens to expose his identity, providing crucial support for the liberation of Southwest China.

In Taiwan, he persuades Kuomintang officers to defect and uncovers vital secrets about the island's defense plans and the US-backed nuclear program. This intelligence strengthens the mainland's resolve to develop nuclear weapons independently. Yu Zecheng then endures the loss of comrades, a citywide manhunt, and countless other dangers before making a narrow escape home, having survived by the skin of his teeth.

With the land at peace and his convictions unchanged, Yu Zecheng hears that enemy agents are still at work and classified secrets are stirring beneath the surface on the old battlefields. He puts on his armor once more and returns to those places steeped in blood and strategy, facing off against the remaining enemies in a battle of wits and courage.
