A Brief Commentary on the Yellow Emperor’s Scripture of Hidden Talisman

The Yinfu Jing is an ancient Daoist secret classic. Though the entire text is only a little over 300 characters long, it contains profound mysteries concerning the Three Powers of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. Following the principle of “explaining the classics through the classics,” this introductory commentary draws on the essence of annotations by sages throughout history, including Jiang Shang, Zhuge Liang, and Li Quan, to explain this wisdom-filled treasure in ten systematic chapters: a work on “the art of emperors and the way of Heaven and Humanity.” Through four approaches, textual interpretation, analysis of its principles, guidance for spiritual practice, and insights for the modern age, readers can grasp both the subtleties of military strategy and the keys to cultivating health and spiritual refinement, while also gaining insight into the state of unity between Heaven and Humanity. Guided by the aim of explaining the classic in a way that is “mysterious but not obscure, profound yet accessible,” this book makes the timeless work a beacon of wisdom for modern readers seeking self-cultivation, a meaningful life, and practical insight into the world.
