In the winter of 1948, Tianjin was besieged. Shen Yan (codenamed "Fisherman"), an underground intelligence agent of the Chinese Communist Party, lurked in the Kuomintang Appeasement Office and discovered that the Kuomintang high-level officials had formulated the "Ember Plan" - an attempt to blow up the city's infrastructure before the city was breached and secretly used chemical weapons left behind by the Japanese army. At the same time, the traitor known internally as "Stinger" and the mysterious killer "Ghost" repeatedly sabotaged underground operations. Shen Yan and his new contact Fang Hui join forces amidst suspicion and temptation, and deal with multiple forces such as the cunning boss Zhou Zhengxiong and the mysterious socialite Lin Wanxing. They compete for key evidence during the countdown, trying to stop this devastating conspiracy before the general attack and clear the last darkness for the dawn.
