Ashes and Dawn: 1949

Winter, 1948. Tianjin is under siege. Shen Yan, a Communist underground intelligence agent codenamed “Fisherman,” is embedded in the Kuomintang Pacification Headquarters when he discovers that the Kuomintang leadership has devised the “Ashen Destruction Plan”: they intend to blow up the city’s infrastructure before it falls and secretly deploy chemical weapons left behind by the Japanese army. Meanwhile, a traitor codenamed “Stinger” and a mysterious assassin known as “Ghost” repeatedly sabotage the underground network’s operations. Amid suspicion and probing, Shen Yan joins forces with his new contact, Fang Hui. Together they navigate the clashing factions, including their treacherous superior Zhou Zhengxiong and the socialite Lin Wanxing, whose identity is shrouded in mystery. With time running out, they race to seize crucial evidence and stop the devastating plot before the final assault, clearing away the last darkness before dawn.
