For the Kids, We Divorced but Stayed Under One Roof

Divorced, But Still Living Together: Lies in the Name of Love

A divorce agreement ended Lin Wei and Zhou Hao’s seven-year marriage, but it couldn’t end the agony of living under the same roof.

For the sake of their young daughter, Duoduo, they signed an absurd agreement: act like a loving couple in public, and become the most familiar strangers in private.

During a cold war, a lighter engraved with an unfamiliar woman’s name appears out of nowhere, and suspicion takes root like poison.

When their elders show up without warning, the two are forced to play the part of a happy couple, each second as nerve-racking as walking on thin ice.

Their daughter suddenly comes down with a high fever. At a critical moment, they shed the disguises hiding their resentment, and for a fleeting moment, it feels as though their old tenderness has returned...

Yet behind the phone screen flashing in the study late at night, Zhou Hao’s silence as he struggles to speak, and all the clues that seem to point to betrayal, there appears to be a more shocking secret.

When lies build a fortress around them,

should they stay for the sake of their child, or leave to set themselves free?

How can a divorced couple still living under the same roof

find a balance between false peace and genuine pain?

And how can they face the illusion of a home, long since shattered but still painstakingly maintained?

This is a story about love and responsibility, lies and truth, sacrifice and choice.

It explores the most painful dilemma in marriage:

How long can we keep pretending for the sake of our child?
