The Great Chu Record of Dharma Forms

Synopsis of The Great Chu Record of the Dharma Form

Li Tiangao, a young noble from modern-day Chang'an, falls off a cliff in an accident and transmigrates into the body of a hunter’s son in Chenjia Village on the Great Chu frontier. The original owner died of hunger after secretly drinking mutton blood porridge, but Li Tiangao unexpectedly awakens an ancient body-cultivation manual carried on his person: Dharma Form of Heaven and Earth, a cultivation classic describing “using the body as the foundation and qi as the blade.”

In this Great Chu world, where martial arts flourish, ordinary people can strengthen their bodies by cultivating “blood-and-qi techniques,” while the most accomplished can shatter stone tablets and fly through the air. Dharma Form of Heaven and Earth is no ordinary technique. It requires drawing in the blood and qi of heaven and earth to temper the bones and sinews (Blood-Moving Realm), opening the body’s ten apertures to absorb the qi of heaven and earth (Cave-Heaven Realm), and fusing the physical body with the primordial spirit to form a “body Dao seed” (Spiritualization Realm). Ultimately, one proves the Dao through the physical body and achieves the supreme path of “manifesting the Dharma Form and becoming a saint through the body.”

After transmigrating, Li Tiangao faces the hardships of survival in Chenjia Village. His mother is gravely ill and needs “Blood Ganoderma” to save her; bandits from Blackwind Stronghold occupy the mountain behind the village, killing and robbing; and, worse still, cultivating Dharma Form of Heaven and Earth requires vast amounts of blood and qi to nourish the body, far beyond what his poor family can afford. But with the knowledge of a modern young noble and his own resilience, he ventures into Blackwind Stronghold at night in the Blood-Moving Realm to steal the medicinal herb and save his mother, defeats the outer disciples of the Black Iron Sword Sect with the power of the Cave-Heaven Realm, and makes a name for himself at the Mighty Far Martial Arts Hall as a “body-cultivation prodigy.”

Yet the path of cultivation is never smooth. The schemes of the Dark Abyss Pavilion, the surviving remnants of the extraterrestrial demons, the secrets of an “ancient body-cultivation sanctuary”… every step Li Tiangao takes brings him face to face with a trial of life and death. He crushes his enemies’ blades with his body-cultivation physique and protects the dignity of the weak with his chivalrous heart. He saves the medicine boy Su Xiao
