The German Empire's Eastern Front: A Chronicle of War

In 1916, the German Empire is locked in fierce combat with Russia on the Eastern Front. The “Black Cross Assault Team,” a special unit of battle-hardened veterans in the Imperial Army, is renowned for its iron will and flexible tactics. Stationed year-round in Courland on the Baltic coast, it is responsible for repelling Russian infiltrators and surprise attacks. Meanwhile, the “Three Iron Alliance,” made up of Army Quartermaster Department officials, Ruhr industrial magnates, and Baltic Fleet officers, seeks to monopolize the supply of war materiel to the Eastern Front. It continually cuts the Black Cross Assault Team's share of supplies, and tensions between the two sides grow ever sharper. On this land ravaged by artillery fire, the struggle between loyalty and betrayal, honor and self-interest never ceases.
