Wukong's Hidden Treasure: A Young Hero's Journey on the Demon-Slaying Path

Ten years after the Journey to the West, Chen Nian, a disciple of Jinshan Temple, is sent by his master to Chang’an to investigate a demonic disturbance. There, he meets Zhao Xuanji, who is seeking to clear his father’s name. The two discover that the Blood Wolf Clan has allied with Wei Yong. After Chen Nian sacrifices himself, his remnant soul attaches to a prayer bead and accompanies Zhao Xuanji. Zhao travels to the Eastern Sea, where the Dragon King aids him. He learns supernatural arts and invents mechanical techniques, then joins forces with Sha Wujing, Zhu Ganglie, and others to seek fragments of the Golden Headband. After overcoming countless dangers, they gather all three pieces and face Wutian, who seeks to resurrect a demonized Wukong, ultimately foiling his plot. Zhao Xuanji refuses the Heavenly Court’s reward and protects the three realms alongside his companions. Together, they establish the Life-Protecting Temple, carrying on the mission of safeguarding the world that began with the journey west.
